Watching the table like a Hawk

To all cardmates bloggers it there.  There have been some super cool and interesting posts by you guys already this month!  It's fun to read all your experiences.

Now to take you to my poker experience for today.

'Dear diary': These players I am up against are all playing the way I used to play, and it's fascinating to watch. I'm watching them like a hawk.  Still it was a tough poker session this morning and in the end I only just about broke even to maintain my overall monthly profit to around 25% with a start up bankroll of $170.  Even knowing the best way to play, according to your poker strategy, sometimes is not enough.

Facing a tough, loose aggressive player sitting directly on my left (a real pain in the ass) I thought very carefully about how I was playing my game. Usually at this level players seem unaware of my style of play and what cards I'm playing, but this guy I felt saw through me like my cards were revealed to him.

I decided to try to trap rap with him my QQs from the small blind after he had been fiercely defending his big blind on a number of previous occasions (username: deathlessshark...nice!).  So I raised small knowing he would call and ofcourse he did, with just the two of us in the hand.  The flop came J 9 2 (rainbow).  On the turn came a scary-ish K of ♣️ but I raised again anyway.  I had actually check raised him on the flop, but unfortunately with a player like this you have to bet bigger generally.  I didn't.  And my turn bet of half the pot was rubbish.  The river came a harmless looking 8, as I put him on either mid pair or a Jack, but in fact it was a killer for me.  I raised the pot and he went all in for his remaining $10.  He held 910 to win the pot and had clearly been keeping his sights on that 8 or Q (by the turn) for his 4/6 outer.

RUBBISH!!!!!!!!

I didnt tilt!  Instead I calmly played even tighter and just watched the table.  I asked myself, 'how are these players playing?'  Who's playing tight? Who's not?  So then I asked myself, what hands does this guy think I'm playing with?  Strong hands.  So a bit later in the session I raised with 67 offsuit which I don't usually do.  Deathless shark was in and another player on the big blind who re raised big pre flop.  We both called.  Here was the result;

BOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMM!!!!!!! Got yaaaaaa!!!! :)))

My favourite hands are ofcourse AK suited (A ♥️ K ♥️), KK and AA.  So it's was almost too easy yesterday when I slowplayed my hand after flopping trips.  I didn't this quick hesitatnt kind of check on the turn after calling his flop bet and he went all in!  'HONEY...HE JUST WENT ALL IN!!'  What do you think I did?  I called ofcourse :)

OUCH.  HE WAS DRAWING EFFECTIVELY DEAD TO A TWO OUTER.

Bankroll start up: $170

Profit/loss: + 25%
