Tony G: «I fell back in love with poker»

Tony G 2019

Antanas Guoga, aka Tony G, is a Lithuanian businessman, politician and philanthropist, but at the same time, he is rightly considered one of the legendary poker players in the last twenty years. The guy didn't often appear at poker events in the last few years because of his work in the European Parliament.

After 5 years of civil service, he decided to return to professional poker and is ready to rock the poker world… again. Thus, we can now enjoy him playing crazy cash and high stakes tournaments much more often.

The other day, Guoga posted photos from a great cash game involving other poker pros: Tom Dwan, Phil Ivey. Danny Tang and Paul Phua were also on board. The gentlemen went to Vilnius by private plane of Paul to play cash at Olympic Casino.

In a conversation with Poker Central journalists, Tony G said that they competed in Short Deck Pot-Limit Omaha and 5 + Holdem (short-deck game where sixes are removed):

«We played $127 000 buy-in and I ended up being a small winner. We had an amazing time. »

The Lithuanian poker player also mentioned that Paul Phua helped him fall in love with poker again:

«Paul is generous and great for poker, he supports so many people and without him, the high-stakes scene would be very limited. »

As for Tom Dwan and Phil Ivey, the guy said that they both are very talented players getting better at game with every passing year, like good wine.

Tony G likes playing Triton events with huge pots, and according to him, we will see the player at the Triton festival in Manila in early 2020.
