Steve O’Dwyer wins two high roller events at GGPoker

Steve O’Dwyer 2020

An international part of WSOP Online starts at GGPoker on July 19, and loads of poker players warm up before the upcoming series with the hope of winning a coveted gold bracelet and impressive prize money. This refers to both regular players and famous poker pros.

Well-known Irish professional Steve O’Dwyer is no exception. The player hasn’t yet captured a single WSOP bracelet, but considering his recent results, he has all chances to win the trophy this year. On Sunday, Steve struck a double blow to GGPoker by taking down two Blade tournaments in one night.

High Rollers Blade Prime for $5 000

First, O’Dwyer captured the High Rollers Blade Prime worth $5 000, having overcome 133 participants and took the biggest share of a $631 750 prize pool. His payout for the first place in this tournament amounted to $138 470. The final table was full of big-name poker stars, including:

  • Michael Addamo (5th – $46 364)
  • Sean Winter (7th – $26 828)
  • Isaac Haxton (9th – $15 523)

It’s worth noting that Michael Addamo regularly enters the ITM zone of the Main Event High Roller Club at PartyPoker. Other famous professionals were also fighting for impressive prize money, but failed to get to the Blade Prime finals. These are Kristen Bicknell (16th – $11 900), new GGPoker brand ambassador Fedor Holz (13th – $13 638), and Stephen Chidwick (12th – 13 638).

High Rollers Blade Mulligan for $5 000

Steve O’Dwyer gained the second victory in the Blade Mulligan with a similar buy-in ($5 000). This high roller event attracted 111 participants, which allowed to form a prize pool of $527 250. There were 15 players to get in the money: the minimum payout equaled to $11 372, while the maximum was $120 755.

Many poker professionals took part in the $5 000 Blade Mulligan, some of them entered the ITM zone and played at the final table, others – left with nothing event after making re-entries. Dario Sammartino, Isaac Haxton and Fedor Holz are in this group: they made a few attempts to win the event, but didn’t even manage to get in the money.

The same cannot be said of Sam Greenwood (14th – $11 372) and Alex Foxen (12th –$12 892), who didn’t get to the finals but received their modest payouts. However, given the fact that they made a few re-entries, participation in this tourney wasn’t profitable for them.

Such famous players as Kristen Bicknell, Joao Vieira, Stephen Chidwick, and Timothy Adams played at the final table. Adams was the first to leave this company and earned $29 227 for sixth place. A little later, Stephen Chidwick shared the same fate: he finished the tournament in fourth place ($51 550).

Top 3 was closed by Joao Vieira ($68 460), who left Kristen Bicknell and Steve O'Dwyer to determine the tournament winner. Steve was reluctant to concede victory to Kristen and overcame the girl, making her a runner-up. For finishing second, Bicknell received $90 925 in prize money.

Blade Mulligan

In total, Steve O'Dwyer earned $259 000 at GGPoker in one night, and the player doesn't intend to stop there. And who knows, maybe he will soon win a coveted WSOP bracelet.
