SCOOP 2020: MarkBang finished first and last in the same event

SCOOP 2020

Participation in poker tournaments with re-entry sometimes has an interesting outcome, as players, who have been knocked out of the event, get back in the game by making re-entry. At times such a return may be quite successful.

A similar situation happened to the Hungarian poker player with the "MarkBang" screen name during the $109 5-Card Draw tournament, which took place as part of the SCOOP 2020 at PokerStars.

It was his friend who noticed that MarkBang had been the first participant to be eliminated from the given tournament. But re-entry brought our hero the first place and the champion title.

According to the results of the SCOOP 2020 Event # 11-M, the player under the "MarkBang" nickname took down this tournament and received $3 530 for the first place + $3 280 as bounty, having made re-entry (marked as [2] near the nickname). The same screen name occupies the 461st position on the list of participants, that is, the very last place!

MarkBang told journalists that there had been a few really strong players at the final table and that the game hadn’t been that soft.

It’s worth noting that the famous poker player from Finland, Jussi "calvin7v" Nevanlinna was also among the finalists. He, just like MarkBang, made a re-entry, but this did not help him win the event. However, the guy finished the tournament with a pretty good result: 3rd place and $2 090 in prize money + $1 580 as bounty.

As for the runner-up, this title went to the Polish regular player "falafel22", whose «silver medal» converted into $3 500, and the reward for knocking out opponents amounted to only $390.

Heads-up against falafel2

The battle was tough, but at some point in the game, falafel2 made a raise being on the button, and the Hungarian answered with 3-bet, having an open-ended straight draw up his sleeve. The Polish player called his opponent’s bet, but luck was on MarkBang side as he hit the straight and went all-in, which was called by falafel2. As a result, falafel2 lost the hand with two pairs.

Shortly thereafter, MarkBang defeated the Polish regular. This happened when the future winner got pre-draw «aces up», that is a combination of a pair of aces and another random pair, while his opponent had just a pair of aces and wasn’t able to improve his hand during the subsequent betting rounds.

Throughout his 15-year career, MarkBang has achieved some excellent results playing poker, including the third place in the Sunday Million and four final tables at the previous COOP tournaments, three of which turned out to be victorious.

MarkBang has long been engaged in poker and can already boast of significant success in this field, but the guy still describes himself as a player who began to examine poker game at a professional level just a few years ago.

Currently, the player is studying cash game of no limit hold'em, since he intends to obtain the NLHE title, and participates in tournaments of other formats only in online series that take place at PokerStars.
