Poker player will go to jail for online fraud

The Danish poker player Peter Jepsen who played under the nickname “Zupp” and earlier was sponsored by the poker room Betfair, was sentenced to more than two years of imprisonment.

It is worth noting that Peter became the winner of EPT Main Event in Warsaw in 2007 and earned $415 000.

Local media stated that Jepsen installed the malicious software on the computers of other players. Thus, he obtained an advantage over his opponents and was able to see their cards. Peter installed such virus as “Trojan horse” on the laptops for a period of 6 years. Moreover, he had 3 partners in crime who confessed that they also participated in this dishonest scheme. It was found out that one of his sidekick was a staff member of IT-department of Danish police.

Now, Peter Jepsen faces imprisonment up to 3 years. In addition, he was fined €3.5 million – this is an approximate amount which he won by using an illegal advantage over his opponents.
