American part ME WSOP winner

The final table of the American part of the $10 000 Main Event WSOP took place on Monday night. Thus, eight finalists met in Las Vegas to determine a winner.

Initially, there were 9 finalists, but Brazilian player Upeshka De Silva was disqualified because he had tested positive for Covid-19. According to the rules of the tournament, the guy was automatically awarded ninth place and $98 000.

At the appointed time, the remaining 8 players arrived at the Las Vegas casino in order to determine the winner and future rival to Damian Salas – the winner of the international part of the ME WSOP.

The final lasted 4 hours, and then the winner’s name became known. It was Joseph Hebert from Louisiana, who started the final table as a chip leader and managed to hold the leading position almost throughout the game. Winning $1 553 000 is a great achievement considering Joseph qualified for the tournament through a $300 satellite.

Speaking to reporters after winning the American part of the ME WSOP finished, Joseph Hebert said the following:

«I was just really confident. I was excited to play and it was just a battle. It wasn't easy, the guys played great.»

Joseph dedicated the victory to his mother Linda who died this year. Hebert has always dreamed of winning a gold bracelet, and his mother believed in him. When the tournament ended, the winner could not hold back his tears, as he felt that his mother was right beside him at that moment.

Now, Joseph has another challenge ahead: a heads-up battle against Damian Salas. On January 3rd, the finalists will play the decisive heads-up to determine the owner of the gold bracelet and an additional $1 million.
