HU game features
I haven't seen you in a while.
Heads-Up is a one-on-one game. Every poker tournament ends with HU, and the difference in prizes for first and second place is often in the order of 20-30%. Therefore, every tournament player should play HU well. In poker tournaments, you will not often reach the HU stage, so you can train your skills in the Heads-Up SnG.
The strategy in HU differs depending on your stack size and existing/missing antes.
Confidence - is key when playing HU. You must understand:
- In 30% heads-up on the flop, Villain will get a pair.
- Villain has a draw of 15% on the flop.
Starting hands that have more than 50% equity preflop:
- All pocket pairs.
- Ax and Kx.
- Q3s, J5s, T7s, 89s.
- Q5o, J7o, T9o.
According to poker statistics , pocket pair will be higher than the opponent's cards 80% of the time (1 in 17) . Both have a pair in only one of 300 hands.
Loose-aggressive style in HU is used most often.
A loose player is an opponent who uses the tactic of playing a large number of starting hands.
The main thing when playing HU:
Position at the table. At HU, position matters, professionals find the small blind position to be more profitable.
Table selection. Regulators do not sit down first at the table so as not to give out their statistics. After all, many poker trackers show statistics after several hands played. Therefore, your opponent will play first hands against an unknown player.
Multi-table play. Heads-Up Poker provides fast dynamics. Therefore, it is not recommended for beginners to play more than two tables.
The manner of play. Do not try to play often by check. The most profitable HU strategy is check-raising.
Stop Loss. The reason to stop playing hu might be a repeated defeat by the same opponent. You should not play not collected, otherwise you risk losing a lot of money. Better to return to the game after a while.
