Online gambling is developing rapidly all over the world. However, in many countries, there is still no well-organized legislative framework that could regulate adequately this market.

In this regard, there are frequent situations in which banks block the accounts of professional poker players.

In early July, Bank of America blocked the account of legendary poker player Daniel Negreanu for "suspicious activity".

Another similar incident happened some days ago. This time, such situation happened between the German poker player Steffen Sontheimer and Commerzbank.

It is not known why the bank made such a decision. However, this may be due to the fact that the German government will soon legalize online poker in the country. Now, the work on the entire legislative framework is actively carried out.

It is likely that the banks have decided to "play it safe" and temporarily stop cooperation with professional poker players until the government settles all the nuances in the legislative segment.

Steffen Sontheimer earned over $13 727 000 in the live events during his entire poker career. He got his biggest prize money of $3 685 000 for the first place in Caribbean Poker Party Super High Roller tournament worth $250 000 in 2018.
