Alex Foxen won $1 700 000 in WPT Five Diamond
Alex Foxen became the winner of WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic tournament. The American player was a runner-up in a similar event in 2017, but this time he managed to win it. This triumph allowed him to move from 10th place to the 2nd one in POY ranking.
Alex Foxen commented on his victory:
“It’s surreal – it’s kind of hard to put into words. It feels amazing. The last time I got to this spot I was a little bit disappointed in how I played heads-up. It’s just incredible to get the opportunity again and be fortunate enough to pull out the win.”
The strong players took part at the final table. There were two WPT champions Jonathan Jaffe and Seth Davies, as well as other experienced poker pros. However, Foxen managed to beat them and became the winner.
Alex started the final day being the second in chip account and eventually he strengthened his position. In a heads-up, Foxen played against Toby Joyce and outplayed him.
Foxen got one of the largest prizes in his career for the first place: $1 694 000.
The best player of GPI rating will be announced on January 1 and GPI President Eric Denise noted that all calculations will be checked several times in order to avoid the mistakes. Earlier, the serious mistake was made in the ranking of WSOP Player of the Year, and Negreanu became the winner by mistake.
